WEDDINGS
I see the creation of a wedding ceremony as a collaborative process with the couple. Some symbols in a wedding, for example, the kiss at the end of the ceremony is symbolic of the intimacy to which the couple commit themselves. But other symbols are not so obvious. I believe in explaining these if necessary. I believe I am an excellent resource person to advise regarding poetry, quotations, music and the creation of a truly personal wedding.
I see myself as a witness - and the couple as marrying each other. The bride and groom are the focus of the ceremony.
FUNERALS
I work in a similar way creating a funeral for a loved person. I work closely with the family - spending a great deal of time to ensure that the eulogy, the poetry and music, the total tribute is appropriate and personal.
OTHER CEREMONIES
I assist with a whole range of other ceremonies. I believe strongly that when unfortunately, a marriage does not work out, a Divorce Ceremony (as is customary in Judaism and Islam) assists the individuals in their grief and in their adjusting to a changed life.
EXPERIENCE
I was appointed as an authorised civil marriage celebrant in 1989 – over 20 years of experience. I speak both German and English fluently.
